| Help with fire recovery efforts | |
As many of you probably have heard, Landmark Park suffered a devastating fire on June 11, 2010 that totally destroyed our maintenance building and shop. At this time we are still unsure what caused the fire. We lost all tools and equipment, including three tractors (two were antiques), a gravity flow wagon for storing corn and a Bobcat-style skid steer loader. On behalf of the Board of Directors of Dothan Landmarks Foundation, we want to thank the Dothan Fire Department for their quick response and professionalism in handling the fire. Our hats are off to others who also responded to this emergency so quickly, including the police department, Commissioner James Reading, Care Ambulance and our insurance agent, Flowers Insurance, who was on site before the fire was even extinguished and had an adjuster handling our case within two hours. Thanks to the efforts of the Dothan Fire Department, the fire was confined to the maintenance area at Landmark Park. The park has remained open for business, provided quality educational programming and family fun. Even with our insurance coverage, we will need the community to assist us in rebuilding and replacing the assets necessary to take care of our 130 acre facility. On this page, visitors may find a wish list of items Landmark Park needs to maintain the property. You may bring items to Landmark Park if you would like to donate. Or, visitors may make a secure monetary donation using the Paypal button found on this page. All donations, no matter how large or small, are tax deductible. With your help, Landmark Park will quickly recover from this unfortunate occurrence. Other news articles: Make a donation to assist in rebuilding and replacing the lost assests at Landmark Park |
